Tottenham Hotspur manager lauds his team's performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou believed the red card shown to Bruno Fernandes in their victory against Manchester United barely changed the game.

Spurs thumped Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, with two goals coming after the Red Devils were reduced to ten men. However, Postecoglou maintains that their opposition's threat level did not change after the red card.

The match in brief

Tottenham Hotspur burst out of the gates, grabbing an early advantage within three minutes. Micky Van de Ven's daring foray upfield unlocked the Manchester United defence, setting up Brennan Johnson for a clinical finish.

The Red Devils squandered numerous chances to level the score, their profligacy proving costly. Their comeback hopes suffered a crushing blow when Fernandes received his marching orders just before halftime for a reckless challenge on Mason Mount.

Seizing the initiative, he struck swiftly. After the restart, Dejan Kulusevski delivered the decisive blow. Ex-Bournemouth Dominic Solanke put the icing on the cake in the 77th minute, sealing a convincing 3-0 triumph.

What Postecoglou said

The Greek tactician started by praising his players and how they performed in the match.

"We were real good. Obviously, it is a great victory,” he told reporters. “I thought the manner of the performance, we played our football really aggressively. That is everything we want to be.

"I could see the boys' attitude; they were not dwelling on missed chances. I knew the goals would come. We should have probably had a couple more."

Speaking specifically about the red card, he said, "We were well in control. To be honest with you, Man Utd still pose the same threat in the transition—I don't think it changed the game. We were well on top by then."
