Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has warned his teammates to guard against complacency ahead of the return leg against Libya.
Nigeria's 1-0 victory over Libya in Uyo has put them on the right path to qualification, but captain William Troost-Ekong is cautioning against complacency.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru's late strike secured all three points, sending Austin Eguavoen's men top of Group D with seven points from three matches.
However, Troost-Ekong insists there's still work to be done.
"It's never done until the fat lady sings, they say.
"It's a good start for us. We knew how important this first game was, especially when you play a double-header."
The Super Eagles captain acknowledged Libya's defensive strategy, saying,
"They really played very defensively, and I think it would have been in their favour if they got that point."
Nigeria are ahead of Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Libya in their group but Eguavoen's men must maintain their momentum to ensure qualification for the tournament.
