Sevilla manager García Pimienta has claimed that Kelechi Iheanacho is being played out of position by Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen.
Iheanacho participated in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, starting for the Super Eagles against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
However, the forward failed to perform in both games, leaving the manager no choice but to substitute him at halftime.
Earlier before their final game, the former Leicester striker informed his head coach that he was being played out of position and revealed his best position on the team.

Ahead of his team's La Liga encounter against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Pimienta recognised the idea of starting Iheanacho on the wings during the pregame press conference on Friday.

Sevilla's official website quoted Pimienta as saying, "We have Lukebakio, Jesús, Suso. Isra has got a shoulder injury.
“Iheanacho played there in the last match and did well despite it not being his natural position. We can use Peque or Barco.

"We can adapt to play differently depending on who plays. We are not going to make excuses and whoever plays will contribute."
The Sevilla manager stressed that the Super Eagles striker is not the best person for the role he was used in during the AFCON qualifiers.
Iheanacho did not perform in both games against Benin and Rwanda, where he was used by Nigerian coach Austin Eguavoen.
