Will John Terry follow in the footsteps of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard by replacing Enzo Maresca as Blues boss?

Chelsea legend John Terry believes he will not get the chance to land his dream job as Blues manager.

Terry, who currently oversees the Chelsea academy, had previously worked as an assistant manager at Aston Villa.

In an interview with talkSPORT, the former Blues captain revealed that he had come close to landing managerial roles in the past, but was ultimately overlooked due to his lack of experience as a number one.

“I love coaching and after three years, I was ready to be a manager, so I came away and reset with the family,” he said.

“I still have a dream, I’d love to go in at Chelsea one day. Does that happen without me doing the other levels? No, it probably doesn’t.

"So, realistically, it’s just not going to happen for me."

Despite this, Terry remains optimistic and feels prepared for a managerial role.

“I’m comfortable with that, I’m happy, I’ve done all my badges, I’m ready. So if anything does ever come up and it’s the right opportunity, I’ll go in.”

Terry made a total of 717 appearances for Chelsea, winning 15 trophies and scoring 67 goals.
