Bayern Munich star Harry Kane has expressed happiness at beating England legend Wayne Rooney’s UEFA Champions League record.

Kane joined the German side last season and has been a remarkable signing for the 32-time Bundesliga champions.

The England international has made 53 appearances, scoring 50 goals and providing 15 assists for Bayern Munich.

He has now taken on a new record after surpassing the Manchester United legend record in the Champions League.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, via the Express, Kane said, "Whenever you're in a conversation with Wayne Rooney, it means you're doing something well.

“He's one of the greatest English players and one of the best players there was in the game. It's a nice achievement."

Kane had set out to beat Wayne Rooney's 30-goal record in the UEFA Champions League when Bayern Munich took on Dinamo Zagreb.

At the end of the game, he had not only surpassed but also surpassed Rooney's record, scoring an incredible four goals in a thrilling 9-2 triumph.

The striker continued, "It's the first time I've ever had three penalties in one game. It was a different feeling for me, but to score four goals is fantastic.

"To help the team in any way possible is important. Whether they're penalties or normal finishes, I'll take them all. It was a great night for us.

"I keep all the balls after hat-tricks. The lads might be sick of signing them, but keep them coming.

"My son Louis, he loves playing football right now. He's only three, but I'll take it home and put it next to his bed and he'll be happy when he wakes up in the morning."

Bayern Munich will now travel to Werder Bremen on Saturday for their Bundesliga clash and Kane will be looking to continue his scoring form for his side.
