What Havertz said after Germany’s win over France
Saturday night’s goal continued Havertz’s recent fine form for club and country, in which the 24-year-old has scored four times and set up two in his last five appearances.
Reflecting on yet another positive result, Havertz commended Germany’s possession and controlled second-half showing.
“Today was a lot of fun. I think we controlled the game well, especially in the second half,” said Havertz after Germany began 2024 positively. “We had one or two good chances to score more goals, but we are of course happy to win against such an opponent.
“I think we played really well with the ball. Nobody was hiding. Everyone was ready to get the ball. I think that made it extremely easy for us to play between the lines.”
On his goal: "Scoring here was good for me. And I'm just happy to be able to play football with the boys. We have so much quality. When I see the players playing behind me, it's just outstanding."
What comes next for Havertz and Germany?
Havertz could play in some capacity for the Euro 2024 host nation in their second friendly of the March international break when Nagelsmann’s team host the Netherlands in Frankfurt on Tuesday, keen to record another positive performance and result with this summer’s finals less than 90 days from commencing.
