Cristiano Giuntoli, the former sporting director of Napoli, acknowledged that the move of Victor Osimhen to Napoli was the hardest he had ever done.
The Super Eagles star was a hot cake in Europe after winning the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup, with several Premier League clubs looking to sign him.
During the 2019–2020 season, the striker scored eighteen goals in 38 games for Lille before Covid-19 ended French football early.
Osimhen was signed by Napoli from Lille in 2022 for a fee worth €81.3 million after an impressive one-year with the French side.

Cristiano opens up on signing Osimhen
In an interview with Corriere della Sera via Tutto Napoli, Giuntoli spoke about how difficult it was to bring Osimhen to Napoli.
Cristiano Giuntoli responded to a question about his most difficult purchase, "Maybe Victor (Osimhen). It took me four months to bring him to Naples."
Osimhen went on to help Napoli end their 33-year Serie A title drought by scoring 26 goals in 32 games, more than making up for the hefty transfer fee.
Osimhen took centre stage on the news when his deadline-day transfers to Chelsea and Al-Ahli fell through.
After the transfer window in the major European leagues closed, the 25-year-old later joined Galatasaray on loan.
Giuntoli believes Napoli ought to have moved sooner rather than waiting until the summer of 2024 to sell Osimhen.
He continued, "Perhaps he should have been sold earlier, but Aurelio is an intelligent and astute entrepreneur. I owe him a lot, I love him.”
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s Galatasaray will face Keneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa in the Turkish League this weekend.
The 2023 African Best Player will be looking to end his goal-scoring drought despite providing three assists in his last three games.
