Peseiro names his best moment as Super Eagles coach
During an exclusive interview with Sport Italia, Peseiro stated that Nigeria’s semi-final win over South Africa at AFCON 2023 remains his best game in charge of the Super Eagles.
Captain Troost-Ekong had put Nigeria ahead from the penalty spot, but there was a late twist to the game when Victor Osimhen thought he had put Nigeria 2-0 up, but the VAR overturned the goal and awarded South Africa a penalty in the 90th minute.
Midfielder Teboho Mokhoena stepped up and sent Nwabali the wrong way to draw South Africa level. After a further 30 minutes of extra-time, with nothing to separate both sides, the game went to penalties.
Nigeria’s goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was the hero, saving three penalties, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the decisive kick to send Nigeria to the final.
