What Adepoju said
Adepoju, who played for Nigeria at three World Cups, believes the criticisms against the 47-year-old are premature. He said that Chelle needed to identify the mistakes they made and course correct.
“At this point, it would be unfair to say Chelle is a bad coach—he is not,” Adepoju said, per Flashscore.
“The only issue was the way the match against Zimbabwe was managed, which has put us in this situation.

“Now, he needs to identify the team’s mistakes and move forward for the upcoming matches. You never know what might happen. We just have to keep hope alive.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s next round of qualifying matches are in June. The Super Eagles are currently six points off South Africa in first place. However, they hope the margin can be reduced to three, as South Africa are in danger of a three-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player in their games against Lesotho.
