“I saw a very famous player from one of the two teams in Milan violently hit a girl. This girl ends up on a table, is lifted up, and he, the same player in an evidently altered state, hits her again,” he stated as per Perizona.
He went on to detail more appalling behaviour, including the player smashing a wall in a fit of rage.
“These are heavy images, very heavy,” Giletti continued.
“But we will not stop working to make them seen.”
Domestic violence awareness under scrutiny in Serie A
The shocking claim has ignited a debate in the footballing world.
Many are calling for swift action, particularly since Serie A players and coaches recently supported domestic violence awareness campaigns.
Giletti was quick to highlight the hypocrisy.
“If you then put a red symbol on your face and do these things, this system is not very suitable,” he said bluntly.
For now, Giletti has refrained from releasing the footage but confirmed the ongoing investigation.
“These videos are very serious, and we have decided not to publish them yet. However, we will continue investigating this case,” he concluded.
The allegation has left fans and officials awaiting further details, with many demanding justice and transparency as well the identity of the said culprit.
