‘It’s a very difficult situation’ - Siasia reveals next step of action if NFF calls him for Super Eagles job

Samson Siasia has revealed his next action if the Nigeria Football Federation approaches him about coaching the Super Eagles.

The Nigerian coach recently got out of a 5-year FIFA ban last month and is available for a coaching job.

The Super Eagles legend previously coached the Nigeria national team in 2010 after coaching Nigeria's under-23 team for three years.

However, he was sacked after failing to secure a qualification ticket for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Siasia said that he was interested in taking up the Super Eagles role when asked, but that to avoid any issues, he would like to obtain a formal contract.

Speaking on Lagos Talks, Siasia said, “I know the situation we’re in, but you just have to negotiate. I have to sit down and discuss with them. I just don’t want to jump in if they ask me to come in there because it’s a very difficult situation.

“Nigerians don’t want to hear anything other than a win. But if you don’t have a team and you don’t plan well, how can you win?

“So it has to be back and forth discussions and compromises to see how we can meet on a common ground.

“I’m not going to throw myself in there. The Super Eagles' job is not the only job in the world. I want to win, but I have to do it the right way, they have to do it the right way.”

FIFA banned Siasia from all football-related activities owing to corruption, and he hasn't had a job for the past five years.

Since the Super Eagles don't have a permanent coach, the 57-year-old has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the position now that he has returned from his suspension.
