The Toffees posted a compilation of the Nigerian, who made his mark in the Premier League in the 2000s and 2010s.
Yakubu urged fans to focus on the positive aspects of his career, including his crucial contributions to Nigeria's qualification for the 2002 World Cup.
He also pointed out that even the world's best players miss chances, highlighting the importance of moving forward and celebrating successes.
"Me, regret playing for Nigeria? No chance. It is an honour for me to play for Nigeria, every player wants to play for his country. I was born in Nigeria and grew up in Benin, Edo state Nigeria. It is an honour to wear Nigeria’s green and white jersey of Nigeria.
"Being at the World Cup in South Africa is (another) great (opportunity) to represent my country. We should all forget the miss and remember the good ones. It is funny when people still talk about it – it is almost 14 years already and people still talk about the miss and not the good ones," Yakubu said.
