Rodri had previously proposed that players might contemplate strike action to protest the demanding schedule.

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has echoed the concerns raised by Manchester City midfielder Rodri about the excessive number of fixtures in the modern football calendar.

Rodri suggested that players might contemplate striking to protest the gruelling schedule exacerbated by the expanded Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and national team competitions.

Maresca agreed with Rodri's assessment, stating, "For me, it's completely wrong with the amount of games that we have. But the only ones that can do something are the players and we can help them," he said.

The 44-year-old praised the players for voicing their concerns and suggested that a player strike could be a potential course of action.

"In the last two weeks, some of the players have tried to explain what they think, and I think it's a good starting point. Some of them have said that (going on strike) could be an idea for them," he said.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will continue to be without their captain, Reece James, due to a hamstring injury as Maresca confirmed that his recovery is taking longer than anticipated,

"We're waiting that he's fit. His injury's a bit delayed but the most important thing for him and any injury is that they come back when they're 100% fit, so Reece is still out.

"We don't have an idea at the moment (when he'll be back). We hope we can find the right solution and have him back as soon as possible," Maresca said.

Chelsea's current position in the Premier League standings is eighth with seven points from four matches.
