Despite choosing England over Nigeria, the Three Lions man has played five times for the national team since 2019.
Fikayo Tomori has expressed his disappointment at his continued exclusion from the England national team despite his impressive performances in Serie A.
Tomori, who joined Milan from Chelsea in 2021, has become a key player for the Italian giants, but his international career has stalled, having made the last of five Three Lions appearances in November 2023 against Malta.
He admitted that he was initially shocked when the opportunity to join Milan arose, but a conversation with legendary defender Paolo Maldini convinced him to make the move.
Since then, he has thrived in Italy, establishing himself as a first-choice center-back and even reuniting with former Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham.
What Tomori said about England absence
Despite his success at Milan, Tomori has struggled to earn a place in the England squad.
He remains hopeful that the arrival of new England manager Thomas Tuchel might change his fortunes.
"I try not to think about it, I focus on what I am doing here," Tomori stated. "If I keep on doing what I'm doing, then eventually it's going to come.
“People ask how I feel about it, but I don’t make the decision. Obviously, I’d like to be there every time and play in a major tournament, which I haven’t done yet and it’s something I still want to achieve. It’s still my goal to be in the World Cup and the Euros.”

He acknowledged the difficulty of accepting his exclusion, particularly during major tournaments.
He recalled a conversation with former England manager Gareth Southgate, who ultimately cut him from the 2022 World Cup squad.
“We spoke. It’s always difficult in these situations to see rationally, at that point you think selfishly, why am I not going? Why is he taking this person instead of me? But the decision has been made and I can’t change it.”
What next for Tomori at Milan?
The defender was involved in Milan's Coppa Italia clash with Sassuolo on Tuesday and should play in Friday night's Serie A match with second-placed Atalanta.
