The Partenopei had to deal with the real danger of losing both Victor Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, their two star players from the Scudetto winning season, last summer.
While they were resigned to losing Osimhen, given the release clause in the Nigerian's contract, they resisted approaches for the Georgian star, refusing Paris Saint-Germain’s big-money bid.
The former Dinamo Batumi winger’s contract runs out in 2027, and the Napoli leadership are working on an extension, but according to Di Laurentiis, they are prepared for a future in which he refuses to renew.
What Di Laurentiis said
Speaking about the prospects of losing the 23-year-old, Di Laurentiis said, per Gazzetta, “What if Kvara does not renew and then leaves? We will come to terms with it. There have been previous cases; we have never had a problem with it. It is important to respect the will of the players, who must also respect our investments.”
Napoli's successful transition from losing their best player, Victor Osimhen, lends credence to Di Laurentiis's claim. They replaced the Nigerian with Romelu Lukaku and are currently flying in Serie A, leading the division after eight games after finishing 10th last season.
