Spanish wonderkid Lamine Yamal earns praise from veteran midfielder Toni Kroos ahead of their European Championship quarter-final showdown.

Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos is the latest to sing praises of Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, as he lauded the 16-year-old’s talent ahead of their clash against Spain.

Kroos came out of international retirement to represent Germany at the European Championships, and he has been one of the best players in the tournament so far.

The hosts are currently in the quarter-final stage and will have to conquer high-flying La Roja, powered by the likes of Yamal, to lift their fifth Euro title. Kroos believes their key to qualifying lies in stopping Yamal and his partner-in-crime, Nico Williams.

What Kroos said

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Kroos addressed Spain's strength on the wings. Although players are making debuts much quicker than they used to, the Germany international still marvels are Yamal's exploits at 16.

"In recent years, players seem to be better now at younger ages; it’s really incredible,” Kroos told reporters. “He [Yamal] was Barcelona’s most dangerous player last season. We know what he’s capable of and will try to keep him and Nico Williams as quiet as possible. To be that good at 16 is simply unbelievable."

Meanwhile, young Lamine Yamal hits out at claims that inexperience would cost the Spanish side against Germany.
