Ivan Toney has opened up about his eight-month suspension from football and his closeness with his manager Thomas Frank.

The 27-year-old spoke with the media for the first time since the ban was issued earlier this year while he was present at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday

The English forward admitted to a number of gambling offences over a period of years, which led to a lengthy suspension from the game by The FA in May.

The Brentford striker was banned from all football-related activities for eight months and will get back on the field next January.

He has, however, spoken to the media about his ban and how he hopes to manage the situation till he gets back to the field.

Toney looking to move past the ban

Ivan Toney was asked during an interview how he tends to get past the eight months ban issued to him in May.

Toney said, during an interview with Sky Sports as reported by Daily Mail, “I’m a grown man, I take it on the chin (the ban) and move forward. I know I’ll come back better than before.”

The Englishman has said that he has accepted the ban and he is looking to move past it as soon as possible.

He also made it clear that he will return to the football field next year as a better player as he looks to turn things around.

Toney speaks on his relationship with his manager

Ivan Toney has spoken about his relationship with Thomas Frank and said he makes every player around him feel special.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his relationship with Frank, Toney said, “He brings us strength and love. When a player plays for somebody, they want to be loved.

“Thomas Frank does that with all the players - whether you’re starting, on the bench, just in the squad - he makes all his players feel special.

“That’s the quality he has. He’s one of the best managers I’ve played under. He knows I’ll give my heart for him and put my body on the line for him.

Toney is slated to play his first Premier League game back for the Bees against Tottenham when he returns to the field of play in January.
