Tella scored the game's lone goal with a header from an Alex Grimaldo cross.

Nathan Tella has praised his Bayer Leverkusen teammates, Victor Boniface and Patrick Schick, for inspiring his match-winning goal against Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal.

The Nigerian international scored the only goal of the game, heading home a cross from Alex Grimaldo.

"I knew once Grimaldo had the ball wide, he was going to deliver into the box. I've watched Patrick and Victor a lot this season. They're excellent at positioning between defenders and the post, so I thought if I got into the same position, I'd have a chance. Thankfully, the ball was perfect, and I managed to score," Tella said via the club’s official website.

Tella recognized the difficulties the Bayern Munich team posed despite their early red card.

"It was a tough game, even with their red card. We had to stay mature and not get overly excited or rush to kill off the game. They still created chances, but we stayed composed, and I'm glad I could help secure the win," he added.

Leverkusen's win against Bayern has enhanced their confidence and elevated their season ambitions.

"We're excited for the next round. We won this competition last year, and it's ours to lose. We'll stay motivated, focus on the next game, and keep building on this momentum," Tella concluded.

Bayer Leverkusen have won four successive games across three competitions since returning from the International break.
