Kone receives four-match ban for Gomes incident
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), which governs the French Ligue 1 announced that Amadou Kone would be suspended for four matches as a consequence of his dangerous play.
This decision means the Mali-born Ivorian will miss crucial fixtures against Olympique de Marseille, Stade Rennais, FC Nantes, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite the severity of the ban, Reims president Jean Pierre Caillot stated that the club would not be contesting the LFP's ruling, even though he personally believed the suspension to be "excessive."
Caillot was quick to point out that the most important outcome was that Gomes was recovering well and could return to playing soon.
