Former Super Eagles midfielder Etim Esin has lamented the lack of creativity in the current Nigerian team, claiming Alex Iwobi is not the solution.
During the recently ended international break, Augustine Eguavoen's team found it difficult to generate opportunities in Nigeria's AFCON 2025 qualifying matches.
Even though the Super Eagles qualified, their performance in their last two games has made many doubt their capacity to win the competition because they are having trouble beating lower-ranked teams.
Their low creativity led to their first defeat against Rwanda, ending the Super Eagles' unbeaten run in the group.

Etim speaks on Super Eagles creativity
Etim has disclosed that the Super Eagles' lack of inventive midfielders contributes to the strikers' poor play.
In an interview with Complete Sports, “Another issue is the lack of a creative midfielder — a proper number 10 who can orchestrate plays, provide assists, and unsettle opposing teams.
“That magic touch of players like Jay-Jay Okocha, Henry Nwosu, or even myself is missing. We don’t have naturally gifted playmakers anymore. Everyone is just average.
“For instance, people keep talking about Iwobi, but he can’t do half of what Okocha did. That comparison doesn’t hold water.”
Iwobi has been a mainstay in the Super Eagles team and has been the creative midfielder for the team.
However, Etim claimed the Fulham star is not good enough to play the role of a creative midfielder in the national team.
