FOOTBALL Luis Rubiales narrates in court how the Jenni Hermoso kissgate scandal unfolded as he claims star is 'lying'
Rubiales insists the kiss was consensual, but Hermoso maintains it was not.
"I never explicitly told my parents that I liked girls," Hermoso revealed, as reported by Daily Mail. "It is something that has always been taboo, but there was actually no need to discuss it openly: the people around me knew it. My parents weren't stupid either." She highlighted her aunt Carol as a pivotal confidante during tougher times.
The football star acknowledged the disparity in acceptance between genders in the sport. "In women's football it is much easier to come out than in men's football," she observed, pointing to the stereotypical image of male footballers having a wife and children.
Hermoso empathized with the challenges faced by her male counterparts, citing the hate and different treatment they endure.
A Personal Journey: Love, Football, and Stability
Hermoso also delved into her personal life, reflecting on past relationships and their impact on her professional life. Currently single, she emphasized finding stability, saying, "I have been in love, but not right now. It's one of the best things I've discovered: how to live with myself."
She linked her personal struggles directly to her performance on the field, admitting, "My private life and my life as a football player have always been closely linked. If I had problems, my football was a disaster."
Navigating a Year of Turmoil: The 'Kiss-Gate' Scandal
The past year has been particularly challenging for Hermoso, who catapulted into the limelight during the 'kiss-gate' scandal. She filed a criminal complaint against Rubiales, with prosecutors subsequently suing him for sexual assault and coercion.
Hermoso reiterated her stance in court, affirming the kiss was "unexpected and at no time consensual," as reported by Marca.
Leaving the court, she expressed gratitude for the support and stated, "Everything went well. I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year. Everything is in the hands of justice... The process will take its course."
