The Bandari head coach believes Leopards applied time-wasting antics to help them get all thee points at his charges' expense
Bandari coach John Baraza has slammed AFC Leopards for deploying time-wasting antics during his team’s 1-0 loss in an FKF Premier League clash that took place at the Dandora Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
A goal by Clifton Miheso was enough to separate both sides, and it now means Bandari are fifth on 45 points, putting their title challenge in jeopardy.
However, the visitors gave Leopards a run for their money in the second half, and it took for a string of saves by Levis Opiyo to help them hang on to their lead in the end. They laboured to a priceless win as they also had to rely on time-wasting tactics to get them through it in the end.
This did not make Baraza happy, who made his feelings clear after the match.
“In the second half, we tried to push numbers forwards and put them under pressure, I think they had to deploy time wasting tactics and it worked for them in the end," said Baraza.
Baraza emphasised Bandari's efficient strategy of frustrating their opponents and relying on quick transitions, but lamented their failure to capitalise on scoring opportunities.
“Our method was efficient. We frustrated them and we knew we would hit them on transitions and we did not maximise on the chances we created.”
"We expected a good game but a tough game. I think the fans enjoyed it but in my opinion, I am not happy we lost," Baraza expressed, echoing his disappointment with the outcome.
Reflecting on the match, Baraza acknowledged AFC Leopards' effectiveness in converting their sole opportunity, contrasting it with Bandari's wastefulness in front of goal.
He identified profligacy as a significant issue for his team, noting their tendency to create numerous chances without capitalising on them.
Meanwhile, Baraza has expounded where his team went wrong, having practically ruled himself out of the race for top four.
"This is a competition. The result did not go how we wanted. I think we have been too profligate. We create too many chances but miss them," Baraza stated, emphasizing the need for greater clinical finishing.
