Mourinho is eager to bolster several areas of his team after an underwhelming first season, and Ederson, who has been a key player for Manchester City, could be a major coup for Fenerbahce.
The Brazilian goalkeeper revealed last summer that a conversation with Pep Guardiola was instrumental in his decision to stay at Manchester City.
"I spoke to Pep, and it was crucial," Ederson said.
Fenerbahce have also been linked with a move for Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic as Mourinho aims to build a team capable of challenging Galatasaray's dominance in the Turkish league.
Galatasaray added Nigerian goal-machine Victor Osimhen to their ranks last summer, and Mourinho will need to make some significant signings if he hopes to close the gap.
