The match, played at Al-Salam Stadium, saw both teams create scoring opportunities, but it wasn't until injury time that the drama unfolded.

Petrojet's Mostafa El-Gamal scored a brilliant solo goal, only for defender Ahmed Bahbah to inadvertently score an own goal just seconds later, leveling the score.

Peseiro, who took charge of Zamalek after leaving his role as Super Eagles head coach, was forced to make several changes to his team due to the absence of key players.

Despite this, Zamalek created several scoring opportunities, with Omar Gaber and Ahmed "Zizo" El Sayed coming close to scoring.

Petrojet also had their chances, with Hany Rashad and Ismaila Bamba missing clear opportunities to score. The match seemed destined for a goalless draw until the late drama unfolded.

What Peseiro said

Despite the disappointing result, Peseiro remains optimistic about his team's chances.

"We will work hard to improve our performance and get victories. We have a great team and we will do everything to achieve our goals,” he said.

The result leaves Zamalek in third place with 27 points, trailing league leaders Pyramids FC by three points and arch rivals Ahly by two points.

Peseiro will now turn his attention to the Cairo grand derby against Ahly on Saturday.
