The Liverpool boss on Tuesday provided information about the Portugal international, who was stretchered off against Brentford last Saturday.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed the extent of Diogo Jota’s injury sustained in the Reds’ 4-1 victory against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium last weekend.
The Portugal international was withdrawn in the 44th minute in what looked to be a knee injury that forced him off for the returning Mohamed Salah.

Van Dijk makes strange ‘world-class’ claim about unsung Liverpool hero
Virgil van Dijk was full of praise for the Reds’ stand-in goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has deputised for Alisson Becker in recent games.
Klopp’s update on Jota
Speaking to the press in the lead-up to Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Luton Town on Wednesday, the German tactician confirmed what many fans suspected when the 27-year-old was stretchered off in West London.
“We have Diogo with a knee issue, and he is ruled out,” confirmed Klopp on Tuesday. “With Diogo, it will take months.”
Klopp’s update on Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Jones and Szoboszlai
The Liverpool boss then revealed the extent of other players in the wars: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai.
“I would like to sit here and say we have absolutely no issues, but we have some,” said Klopp. “So, not available is obviously Ali (Alisson), that’s a muscle injury where we don’t know exactly how long it takes but definitely not for the foreseeable time coming back.
“Curtis, with a bone ligament issue, ruled out and all the little bit longer-term like Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Dom (Szoboszlai), they are on their way back but not in team training yet, so that means they are not available as well. That's the situation, let me say it like that.”
Which games could Jota miss?
Klopp’s remarks on Tuesday undoubtedly rule out Jota from Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Chelsea on February 25, with the Reds taking on the Blues at Wembley Stadium in the rematch of 2022’s final.
The Reds boss did not provide specifics, but Jota could be absent against Manchester City on March 10 and the Merseyside club's trip to Manchester United at the start of April.
