Shabana FC's jubilant fans flood Thika Road, turning it into a dance floor after their triumphant 1-0 win against Tusker.

Excited Shabana FC supporters brought Thika Super Highway to a standstill, jubilantly celebrating their team's sensational 1-0 victory over Tusker at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Festivities erupted immediately after the final whistle, as elated fans, armed with twigs and singing Kisii language songs associated with their team, took to the streets on Friday evening, blocking traffic and turning the thoroughfare into a sea of jubilation.

The boisterous fans, unable to contain their joy, chose to traverse the distance from Kasarani to Nairobi CBD by foot, dancing to the tunes of victory and causing a traffic snarl that inconvenienced commuters during the evening rush hour.

The celebratory procession, marked by exuberance and elation, showcased the deep connection between the fans and their beloved team.

Inside the stadium, riot police officers had initially restricted the ecstatic supporters from accessing the pitch as they celebrated Vincent Nyabuto's 69th-minute goal, a result of a splendid connection with Rodgers Aloro's free-kick.

Shabana's triumph marked a significant turnaround after enduring a challenging five-match winless streak, during which late-game concessions had become a recurring theme.

Coach Sammy Onyango expressed his delight, saying, "We are thrilled to secure our first win after enduring five matches without a victory, during which we consistently conceded in the late stages of the game. The triumph demonstrates that confidence has returned to the team. It has been a challenging period for our fans, and this victory is a reward for them."

Prior to the memorable win against Tusker, Shabana had settled for identical 1-1 draws against FC Talanta, Kenya Police, and AFC Leopards, while facing losses against Murang'a Seal and Kariobangi Sharks.

The victory propelled Shabana to the 14th place on the Football Kenya Federation Premier League table, amassing six points from six matches.

The team's rise in the rankings has injected a renewed sense of optimism among the players and supporters alike. The fans, who had endured a rollercoaster of emotions during the winless streak, now find solace in the fact that their loyalty has been rewarded.

Looking ahead, Shabana is set to face Nairobi City Stars at Raila Odinga Homa Bay Stadium on October 22, 2023.

The upcoming fixture will be a test of Shabana's newfound confidence as they aim to build on the momentum generated by their historic victory over Tusker.
