Argentina national team striker, Julian Alvarez, opens door to Manchester City exit.

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has given a nod to his suitors after he recently hinted at his desire to leave the Premier League champions in search of a more prominent role.

The world champion joined the City squad in the summer of 2022. He has gone on to clear the board in terms of club trophies, yet his feet itch as he has had to deputise Erling Haaland for the striker role at Manchester City.

Alvarez was the starting striker in an Argentine team that won the World Cup but returned to Manchester to be Haaland’s understudy. Although he racked up game time last season in periods when Erling Haaland and/or Kevin de Bruyne were injured, he was immediately relegated to the back burner at the business end of the season when the pair returned.

The striker is frustrated with his role, and in a recent interview, he hid his frustration poorly.

What Alvarez said

Alvarez is currently on Argentina duty at the Olympics, while his agents work tirelessly to attend to suitors who have caught whiff of his frustration.

The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have been attentive to this development, while reports made the rounds that Alvarez could be open to leaving Manchester City. The former River Plate forward has now all but confirmed the alleged desires.

"I haven't stopped to think about what I'm going to do,” Alvarez told DSports Radio. “Last season, I was one of the players who played the most minutes in the team.

"But it's true: in the end, in some important games, it's not pleasant to be left out. I will have time to consider my decision. I haven't stopped to think things through calmly. Once the Olympic Games are over, I will take the time to reflect on what I want for myself."

As stated earlier, suitors like Chelsea have made an inquiry for Alvarez. As Pulse Sports reported, Manchester City will not stand in his way but are demanding a £60 million transfer fee plus another £17 million in add-ons to release their prized asset
