Kenya's Junior Starlets are 90 minutes away from advancing in the U17 World Cup qualifiers after a strong lineup announcement.

Junior Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche has unveiled her squad for the crucial second leg of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Burundi, set to be played at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata with kickoff scheduled for 3 PM.

In a strategic shift, Cheche has introduced Valerie Nekesa into the starting lineup, replacing Quinter Adhiambo, who was a starter in the previous match.

This tactical adjustment aims to enhance the team’s offensive prowess as they look to secure their spot in the tournament.

The Junior Starlets are entering this match with confidence, riding high on the momentum from their dominant 3-0 victory in the first leg at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.

The trio of Lornah Faith, Marion Serenge, and substitute Susan Okoth were instrumental in that win, each finding the back of the net to give their team a comfortable lead.

Maintaining stability in defense, Coach Cheche has decided to keep her backline unchanged from the last match.

This group, consisting of Velma Abwire, Lorine Ilavonga, Elizabeth Ochaka, Christine Adhiambo, and Kimberly Akinyi, proved formidable against Burundi's attacks and is expected to uphold their solid performance.

In the midfield, the dynamic Rebecca Odato and Velma Awour will continue to support the forwards, while Susan Akoth, who impressed as a substitute by scoring in the first leg, will start to provide additional thrust from the midfield.

Completing the starting eleven are the goal scorers from the first leg, Lorna Faith and Marion Serenge, alongside the new starter Valerie Nekesa, who is anticipated to bring fresh energy and creativity to the forward line.

The substitutes' bench is packed with potential game-changers like Mitschelle Waithera and Diana Anyango, ensuring that the team has depth and options should adjustments be needed during the match.
