Katywa has revealed the factor that has made Kabras Sugar continue producing dominating displays so far this Kenya Cup season.

Kabras Sugar head coach Carlos Katywa has revealed how he has managed to get the side to become an unstoppable juggernaut so far this season.

Kabras have won all their opening six games quite comfortably, including their last game against Strathmore Leos where they obliterated them 88-3 last weekend.

The Sugar Millers are the reigning Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup champions, and Katywa has explained the exact thing he did to ensure the club maintained such high levels of top performance.

“Look, if you remember the first season I got here (In 2022) , I told you guys that we are working on trying to create a culture, now we have got a very good culture which is running around our club,” Katywa said.

Katywa has emphasised  the importance of unity and pulling in one direction as a huge factor behind  their impressive dominance.

“We have just decided to work on our principles and values. Before we can work on what is good on the field, we need to work on ourselves as a team.

“We have been working in an environment where players are (moving) as a family. We play for each other right now.

“There are values that we keep, you can see that (being portrayed with) quite a number of tries we scored (against Strathmore).

“Quite a lot of enterprising play, interlinking between forwards and backs where we created space and there was no selfish play.

“The tries we are scoring now are just hysterical and beautiful (considering) some of the things we were unable to do in the past.”

Katywa has read a riot act against complacency insisting there is still a lot of rugby to be played despite the club being on course to making the playoffs nonchalant.

“We do not want to be ahead of ourselves because the playoffs is a very different ball game.

“There is a lot of pressure, a different environment and alot of people are putting alot of pressure that we should be running away with the cup but that is not what I want the boys,

“I tell the boys,  ‘let us stick to putting each game as it comes, we stick to our plans, we stick to which game we are playing currently’,”

Kabras will be hoping to make it seven wins from seven when they face Nakuru at the Kakamega Showground this Saturday.
