The Amakhosi are reported to have made their second attempt to sign the Congolese forward, who is currently in Yanga's books.

Yanga SC striker Fiston Mayele could be in line for a shock move after it was reported he is in talks with South Africa Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs.

As revealed by Sports Arena, it is believed discussions have taken place between a Kaizer Chiefs representative and the Yanga striker, who is on contract at the Tanzanian Premier League side until 2024.

Chiefs' rivals Orlando Pirates are also in the running for the 28-year-old, with both teams heavily linked with the DR Congo international during the off season transfer window.

A few months later, Amakhosi are attempting to strike a pre-contract agreement with the versatile forward.

In June last year, Kaizer Chiefs had made an initial bid of around $210,000 to hold out for a bigger fee in exchange for Mayele's signature.

However, Yanga slapped a high price tag on their prized asset before rewarding the player with an improved two-year contract.

Orlando Pirates are also said to be keeping tabs on Mayele's situation and have been tipped to join the bidding for his signature in the future.

It remains to be seen whether Kaizer Chiefs will ultimately be able to snap him up at the expense of the Buccaneers, who will have plenty of funds to spend on new players when the season ends due to their increased budget.

Before joining Yanga, Mayele played for DR Congo giants AS Vita, where he won the club's 2020-2021 domestic league title.

In his first season at Yanga, Mayele scored 19 times in 35 appearances across all competitions and missed the Premiership Golden Boot by one goal.
