The Kenyan international is currently second on the goalscoring charts behind Benson Omala of Gor Mahia on five goals, underpinning his rise to prominence in 2023.
Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick ‘Luwowo’ Odhiambo has heaped praise on budding striker Moses 'Shummahboy' Shummah, describing him as a player with a really bright future ahead of him.
The Kenyan international is currently second on the goalscoring charts behind Benson Omala of Gor Mahia on five goals, underpinning his rise to prominence in 2023, a year he scored his maiden goal for Harambee Stars and was also named the FKF Cup most valuable player as Homeboyz soared to a win.
Speaking after their 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars, a result that now puts them fourth in the title, Odhiambo ran out of superlatives to describe the 21-year-old striker, but also pin-pointed what he needs to work on to fulfill his potential.
“Shummah just needs time. I think for this season and also for the forthcoming season, we have a striker on our hands,” Luwowo said.

FKFPL: Shummah, Ogechi and Kayci lead the top ten footballers to watch in Kenya in 2023/2024. Who else makes the list?
Here are the top ten Kenyan footballers to watch in the 2023/2024 season.
“Kenya has a top striker in Shummah. It is just a matter of time for him. He is a young player who is working hard. There are challenges of course, but if you look for example in the game (against Ulinzi), he did so well.
“He brings his teammates into play and also individually, he can also be a threat. He uses both feet, is tall and is strong.
“He is a good striker, he just needs to become calmer in certain situations and to also be guided and he will become a very good player.”

Moses Shummah: The young Harambee Stars sensation earning rave reviews at Kakamega Homeboyz
Shummah had an end of season to remember, not just making his debut and scoring for Harambee Stars, but also being named most valuable player as Homeboyz lifted their maiden FKF Cup.
Shummah has been improving each game since making his debut for Homeboyz back in 2022, having signed from Mombasa Elite in the National Super League.
Shummah scored five goals in all competitions last season, and also scored on his Harambee Stars debut against Pakistan.
The Eldoret FC academy product, who is valued at Ksh6 million by Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula is destined to move on to even bigger and better things should he carry on in the trajectory he is on.

FOOTBALL Gor Mahia duo of Benson Omala & Rooney Onyango reportedly on radar of top European team
Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has revealed that Gor Mahia players Benson Omala and Rooney Onyango could soon join a European team following his recommendation
“I always like to see players enjoying doing what they want and have peace of their mind,” Shimanyula said in an earlier interview with People Sport.
“If indeed Shummah wants to leave Homeboyz the door is wide open (for him to go), I will not stand in his way but the only problem is who will be able to pay Sh6m for his services?
“If Gor Mahia are seriously interested, then ask them to come with that Ksh6m, otherwise they should stop daydreaming and focus on the players they already have.”
