Kampala Queens are just a day to the much-awaited kickoff of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers that will be held in Njeru and Kampala.

The FUFA Women Super League champions start their campaign their Group A campaign on Saturday, 12th August, against Yei Joints from South Sudan at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The team faces a South Sudan side that will be playing at this level for the third time in a row but has failed to go past the groups on both occasions.

The team’s head coach Charles Ssenyange is aware of the experience the Sudanese have picked but believes his team has what it takes to tame them.

“We have planned how to approach them because they’re very good on the ball,” Ssenyange told club media ahead of Saturday’s kickoff.

Most of Ssenyange’s girls will be making their continental debut as well as the club, but he is counting on the national team and experienced players to do the job.

“The girls are eager for a showdown because it is their first time, and they’re at home.

“The international players have added more value to the team. Their experience will help the younger ones to settle in the game,” he added.

The Queens will kick off at 4 pm shortly after Commercial Bank of Ethiopia’s fixture against Buja Queens from Burundi.
