Germany has released a preliminary squad for the EURO 2024 with Karim Adeyemi.

Karim Adeyemi, the Borussia Dortmund forward who has been open about his Nigerian roots and love of fufu, has been a surprise omission from Germany's preliminary squad for EURO 2024.

The 27-man party for this summer's European Championship was announced by head coach Julian Nagelsmann on Thursday, with Adeyemi one of the notable absentees.

Experienced names like Mats Hummels, Leon Goretzka, Julian Brandt, Niklas Sule, Timo Werner and Serge Gnabry have also missed out on initial selection.

One more player is still set to be cut before Germany's final 26-man squad is confirmed closer to the tournament kicking off.

Adeyemi's omission will raise eyebrows after an impressive season at Dortmund despite scoring just five goals across all competitions for the club.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Munich to a Nigerian father, has previously spoken about his affection for Nigerian cuisine - particularly the famous fufu dish.

His displays in 2023/24 season had been expected to earn him a place in Nagelsmann's Euro squad as Germany bid to revive their struggling national team under the former Bayer Munich coach.

However, it seems Adeyemi will have to wait for his major tournament chance with Die Mannschaft for now.
