The Gor Mahia head coach ran out of superlatives on the state of the pitch at Kasarani following their 2-0 win over Ulinzi Stars last Sunday.
Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has hailed the conditioning of the Kasarani Stadium, heaping huge praise on the ground’s maintenance staff as it has allowed his team to play progressive football.
The green army played mouth watering football during their 2-0 win over Ulinzi Stars which helped them ascend to the top of the league table last Sunday, with the likes of Ugandan midfielder Shaffik Kagimu dictating the tempo of the game from deep excellently.

FOOTBALL Explained: Why Michael Olunga cannot directly join Everton or any English Premier League side yet
The Kenya captain has been linked with a move to Everton, but may not meet the requirements needed to play in the Premier League.
“Shaffik is a player I have known very well for a long time,” he said, “he is a player I helped transform into that deeper role,” he added.
“He never played when he was younger but I think you can see how he can perform on a pitch like this (Kasarani). If we go to pitches like Sudi (In Bungoma) that are bouncy, it does not suit him but on a pitch like this, it suits him.

FKFPL Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat on what Benson Omala must do to earn more caps
Firat urges Kenyan players like Benson Omala to embrace growth and ambition for national team success.
“We have to give credit to the groundsmen here at Kasarani. They do a fantastic job and this has to be one of the best pitches in East Africa. The sooner Harambee Stars can be back playing football here, I think there is no reason they cannot play some great football out there on the pitch.”
Kasarani Stadium has been picked as one of the three stadia that will be used to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2027 should Kenya, alongside Tanzania and Uganda win the bid to host the tournament in four years’ time.
The last time Harambee Stars played at the ground was during their 1-1 draw with Egypt in March 2021. Stars will be hoping to use it for future assignments now that their ban from playing matches was lifted.
