Naija Super 8 entered match day three with newly promoted Katsina United holding their own against CAF Champions League side Remo Stars.
Newly promoted Katsina United proved to be a difficult task for Remo Stars in the Naija Super 8 on Sunday,
Katsina, inspired by centre-back Egbe Manyo, pushed Remo to their limits following a 1-1 draw in the first match of match day three at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Both sides were evenly matched, with Manyo denied the hero of the game.
Katsina’s Manyo denied the Hero award
In what was a defensive masterclass from the centre-back, Manyo put in an impressive display at the back after he helped Katsina survive Remo Stars.
The talented defender led the back line with panache as he won five tackles, made three interceptions, two last-man tackles, four aerial duels won and 10 clearances.
However, Remo Stars’ scorer on the day, Fabian Nworie, was named the hero of the day by the fans who voted online.
The Hero of the Day is an award given to the man of the match for each game at the Naija Super 8 and is voted for by fans online.
Remo vs Katsina: Brief
The first game of the day saw the Sky Blues go in as the favourites to take all three points against the newly promoted Katsina.
Remo defeated NPFL champions Enyimba in their opening game of the Naija Super 8 and were expected to repeat the feat against the Changi Boys.
The Ikenne-based side started on a positive note when Iworie put them ahead and deservedly so.
However, they failed to hold on to that lead as Katsina bounced back to equalise via Samson Olasupo.
