KCB had to share the spoils with Posta Rangers after the game ended goalless to the disappointment of their coach Bernard Mwalala.

KCB head coach Benard Mwalala tore into his attack after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Posta Rangers in a league clash that took place at the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides never created any real chances into the other’s halves and in the end, they would have to share the spoils.

KCB remain in 11th place on 41 points. Posta Rangers by contrast, are eighth on 47 points, in what has been a disastrous second half to the campaign for both sides after flying first halves of the season.

The game saw few and far chances created, with only a handful of half-chances the only takeaway from the match. Even so, the forwards were unable to make those few opportunities count.

Speaking to Pulse Sports after the draw, a visibly frustrated Mwalala was quick to tear into his attack for failing to take advantage of the chances they created, which left them having to settle for a point.

“The first half was poor. We started with a tempo that was too low for my liking and we gave them many chances. We let them play so much in our half which I never liked,” Mwalala said.

“In the first half, we gave them too much respect. We altered things in the second half and made substitutions that tried to change the game.

“We created many chances in the second half.  The only issue is that we did not manage to score. But if we are creating many chances. What matters now is scoring.”

Mwalala made the bizarre decision of subbing off James Mazembe in the 36th minute, leaving fans wondering whether he was being withdrawn due to an injury or because he blatantly had a poor game.

The former Harambee Stars striker has now revealed that he had to hook off Mazembe for Etyang for tactical reasons.

“Mazembe did not have a good game. That is why I had to hook him off. I tried telling him to pull up his socks, but it just was not working. The left flank was ineffective. We just had to make the tough decision to hook him off.”

KCB will be facing AFC Leopards in their next league clash on Wednesday.
