Kahiro, 25, hopes his impressive form will convince national team selectors to consider him for the CHAN competition on home soil.

FKF Premier League golden boot contender Francis Kahiro is banking on his imperious form in front of goal to earn Harambee Stars ticket  for the African Nations Championships (CHAN).

Kenya is set to co-host the biennial continental competition alongside Uganda and Tanzania from 2025 February 1-28.

The KCB front man has bagged six goals in nine league matches this season to lead the top-scoring charts. His productivity on the front end of the pitch has propelled the bankers to the top of the 18-team league.

“I am enjoying myself and my teammates have made it easier to get results, and as we chase KPL league title for the first time, I will also be hoping to get the chance to represent my mother land at home during our maiden CHAN,” he told SportsBoom.

Kahiro was part of the Stars 23-man squad for the dead-rubber CHAN qualifier against South Sudan. Kahiro, 25, believes his chemistry with James Kinyanjui is a lethal weapon for Patrick Odhiambo's charges, who have opened a four-point gap over second-placed Mara Sugar at the summit and are yearning to win the KPL title.

The pair  played together in highschool during their formative years and both also donned the Bandari jersey last season. “We schooled with Kinyanjui and also played with him at Bandari, he knows my runs and my positioning in the box, making our chemistry work, and  I thank him for the part he has played in our wins and my goals” said Kahiro.
