KCCA will face the victorious team on aggregate between Tunisia's Olympique de Beja and Libya's Abo Selim.

KCCA FC is set to square off against a North African side in the second preliminary round of the Confederations Cup following the tournament draw on Tuesday afternoon.

The Kasasiro Boys were granted a bye for the first preliminary round qualifier given their CAF club ranking coefficient.

They were the fourth best ranked nation from the North, Central and East African clubs taking part in the Confederations Cup.

KCCA will face the victorious team on aggregate between Tunisia's Olympique de Beja and Libya's Abo Selim.

These teams are slated to compete in the first qualifying round, with the match set to be played between August 20-22, 2023 for the first leg and August 27-29, 2023 for the second legs.

KCCA will then open their quest for qualification in the second preliminary round scheduled between September 17-19, 2023 for the first leg and September 29 and October 1 for the second leg.

The first leg will see KCCA as visitors, while the second leg will be hosted at the St. Mary's Stadium in Kitende, the club’s proposed home ground for the competition.

This year's tournament structure changes will have the aggregate winner from the second qualifying round advancing to an eight-team group stage.

KCCA is no stranger to the Confederations Cup, having last competed during the 2020/21 season, where they were eventually eliminated by Rwanda’s AS Kigali on away goals rule.

They had to forfeit their first leg, after a COVID-19 outbreak within the squad saw several players including then head coach Mike Mutebi ruled out for the first leg.

KCCA also took part in the 2019 Confederations Cup, where they were defeated in the play-off round by Algeria's Paradou AC with an aggregate score of 4-1.

In 2017, KCCA made an impressive run reaching the group stages for the first time.

The team showcased their grit by eliminating Egypt's Al Masry FC 4-3 on penalties in the group stage play-off round after being ousted from the CAF Champions League qualifiers at the second preliminary round.

In their Confederations Cup journey, the Kasasiro Boys were placed in Group A, earning nine points from home victories against Club Africain, FAR Rabat, and Rivers United.

However, FAR Rabat edged them out to the knockout rounds based on goal difference.

Head coach Sergio Traguil will have his work cut out to guide the club back to the group stages of the competition, and also try surpass their previous best performance.
