The last two friendlies have seen KCCA struggle to impress in front of goal, something that will have to be addressed before serious business starts for the club.

KCCA FC are gearing up for their first match of the CAF Confederation Cup Preliminaries against Libya’s Abu Salem slated for September 17 at the Olympic De Rades Stadium in Tunisia.

The team has had several practice matches and lost 2-1 to Maroons at the Prisons Grounds in Luzira Friday evening.

Abraham Tusubira and Baden Ogama scored for the Prisons side.

Having been held to a goalless draw by UPDF FC in Bombo on Wednesday, the 13-time Uganda Premier League Champions got another reminder that nothing will be easy at the top under new head coach Sergio Traguil.

Peter Magambo scored KCCA’s consolation goal in the second half to halve the deficit following Maroon’s two-goal advantage that was carried into the halftime break.

KCCA got a bye at the first hurdle of the qualifiers but now have two matches to negotiate and make it to the money bracket, the CAF Confederations Cup.

Having missed out on the FUFA Super 8 Tournament title, Traguil will be looking to qualify for the Group Stages of the Confederation Cup as his first bit of success at the club.

KCCA lost 2-1 to URA FC in the semi-final of the Super 8 before defeating SC Villa 3-2 in the third-place playoff match played last Sunday.

Serious business will, however, start next Sunday in Tunisia, and all focus on returning KCCA to continental football that has eluded the club since the era of Mike Mutebi.
