KCCA FC qualified through the back door after falling second to double-winning Vipers in the Uganda Premier League last season.
KCCA FC’s skipper Julius Poloto has stated that the team is going for serious business when they face Libya’s Abu Salam in the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup second-round fixture.
The Kasasiros Boys qualified through the back door after falling second to double-winning Vipers in the Uganda Premier League last season.
Poloto has noted that the team is ready to fight and do better that Vipers to reach the group stages of the competition.
Vipers were booted out on arrival by Botswana giants Jwaneng Galaxy, leaving Uganda’s hopes on KCCA.
“We qualified because of the rules because we didn’t win the trophies but are not going there for formality but to compete to reach the group stages,” Poloto said ahead of their arrival to Tunisia on Friday.
The player who was part of Mike Mutebi’s team that reached the group stages of both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup has urged his team to push beyond the coach’s script and use the chance to sell themselves to bigger clubs.

The Venoms, who launch their title defence on Sunday with a trip to Jinja to face Gaddafi, have released among them two Brazilians who were signed barely three months ago.
“The coaches have set the team’s objectives, but we as players have personal targets that we want to achieve through this exposure. It will be good to go back to the group stages, and we’ve been working hard to see that we hit the targets,” he added.
KCCA were given a bye from the first-round qualifiers and now have a chance to play in the money stages if they manoeuvre past the Libyans over the two legs.
