Defender Mujuzi lost possession deep in the URA half, and Ssenjobe was put through on goal by Ssemujju to score and give the visitors the lead in the 72nd minute.

KCCA FC’s poor run of form stretched to five games after a 2-0 Startimes Uganda Premier League loss to URA FC Wednesday afternoon at the Mehta Sports Stadium in Lugazi.

Playing only hours after confirming the resignation of Morley Byekwaso as head coach, KCCA had Badru Kaddu Mukasa calling the shots, but his presence failed to inspire the squad to victory.

Former KCCA defender Eric Ssenjobe opened the scoring for the tax collectors in the 72nd minute before substitute Alfred Leku sealed the deal deep in stoppage time.

The defeat made it five games without a victory for the 13-time champions, who had three 1-1 league draws before losing 1-0 to Bright Stars in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Maroons, Blacks Power and UPDF all held the Lugogo-based side, and the clash with a much improved URA side was expected to be a tall order for players short on confidence.

It was yet another day where players considered decent by Ugandan standards failed to rise to the occasion.

Julius Poloto had a good run at the start of the game, beating Derrick Ndahiro to cross to Muhammad Shaban, whose connection missed the target.

The two were barely seen again after that as KCCA struggled to string together passes.

URA found room on the right side of the KCCA defence to trouble Mustafa Mujuzi.

Ibrahim Dada and Sande Andabati exploited the spaces to pin KCCA back.

Goal scorer Ssenjobe escaped a red card after losing the ball to Shaban and bringing him down, denying him clear sight of goal.

The two sides struggled to create clear-cut chances and headed into the half-time break with no goals to report about.

Dada set up Livin Kabon at the start of the second half, but with his back to the goal, the forward’s back heel failed to hit the target.

Sam Timbe was the first coach to react, calling on the services of forward Leku and winger Joseph Ssemujju.

With the two sides struggling to get anything in the final third, the breakthrough came from an unlikely source.

Defender Mujuzi lost possession deep in the URA half, and Ssenjobe was put through on goal by Ssemujju to score and give the visitors the lead in the 72nd minute.

A solo run from the centre saw Leku allowed too much time on the ball, and from a distance, he struck past custodian Benchamin Ochan to put the icing on the cake.

The loss leaves KCCA stuck on 38 points, five behind table leaders SC Villa.

URA, meanwhile, moved to 33 points.
