According to reports, Stuttgart have made a late move to hijack Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla.

The Super Eagles forward's contract with Leicester City expired this summer, making him a free agent.

The forward was linked to several top teams in Europe after his contract with newly promoted side Leicester ended.

The forward's next destination was Spain after it was reported that he had agreed to join Sevilla on a free transfer.

There might be one more twist in Iheanacho's transfer as Stuttgart make a late swoop for the former Manchester City player.

Iheanacho, who joined Manchester City's academy and has spent his whole professional career there, was reportedly keen to remain in England.

It's interesting to note that he had plenty of suitors; among them were rumours of him joining West Ham, Ipswich, and Aston Villa.

All of those plans, though, fell through, and over the weekend, rumours circulated that Iheanacho was nearing a deal to join Sevilla.

The 27-year-old forward was supposed to undergo medical examinations in preparation for signing a deal with the all-time UEFA Europa League winners, after apparently agreeing to personal terms.

However, according to Vamos Sevilla, VfB Stuttgart have made contact with Iheanacho to offer him better conditions.

Stuttgart are currently looking for a new striker because Serhou Guirassy, their forward, moved to Borussia Dortmund.

Iheanacho might be tempted to pick Germany over Spain as his next team because Stuttgart, unlike Sevilla, will participate in the UEFA Champions League the following season.
