Talanta held Police to a 0-0 draw despite not training due to fatigue from travelling from Bungoma following their match against Nzoia Sugar over the past 72 hours.

FC Talanta head coach, Ken Kenyatta has revealed he is satisfied with the point his team collected during their 0-0 draw against Kenya Police in a match played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Talanta showed a lot of fight and desire to contain a police side filled with players on international pedigree despite being “fatigued” from the league match played against Nzoia Sugar on Wednesday and the traveling from Bungoma to Nairobi over a 72 hour period.

“Police have top players in the Premier League and I respect them,” he said.

"We did not even train for the match due to fatigue from traveling from Nzoia for over 10 hours on the road.

I needed to give them time to rest in order to have energy for today’s game. Even though every team wants to win, I am happy with the draw considering the circumstances.

The game was good. Police created chances but did not take them. We are now preparing for the next game now because we will have recovered in time considering the game is in a week’s time in a positive way and with a lot of energy,”” he added.

FC Talanta have collected 28 points from 28 league matches this season, and are now 5 points ahead of the relegation playoff places. They have failed to register a single win since mid- March when they beat Bidco United in Thika.

Kenyatta has had to deal with his squad getting decimated by injuries and sales to bigger teams and has had to use a lot of inexperienced players this season, suggesting that the side is punching above its weight.
