FKF Premier League moneybags Kenya Police FC face a challenge as their top scorer departs for an unnamed Indonesian club.

Kenya Police FC will start the 2024/2025 FKF Premier League season without their star striker Tito Okello who has signed with an unnamed Indonesian club after an outstanding performance last season

The departure of the South Sudanese forward, who was the top scorer with 20 goals across all competitions, has left a significant void in the squad.

Okello's remarkable tally included 16 goals in the league and an additional four in the FKF Cup, contributing decisively to Police finishing third in the league standings and clinching a place in next season's CAF Confederation Cup.

A source close to the club confirmed the move and indicated that they will fill the void before the start of the upcoming season.

"Yes, the striker has left the club, but more details will be released in the next few days. Of course, we will secure another quality striker," said a source who requested anonymity.

This marks the second time the influential player has exited a Kenyan club, having previously played for Gor Mahia in the FKF Premier League in 2020.

The forward joined Kenya Police from Iranian top-tier club Paykan FC and has been a constant presence in the South Sudan national team.

During his tenure at Kenya Police he not only led the scoring charts but also brought a wealth of experience to the team.

Before his stint in Kenya, he left a notable mark on Ugandan football with significant contributions at KCCA FC, SC Villa, and BUL FC.

With his departure Kenya Police is left with Clinton Kinanga and Rashid Mchelenga as the main options up front.

Kinanga was mostly used as a substitute last season, while Mchelenga, who has not yet found the net for the club, saw limited action and may not be retained.

Samil Babu's coached outfit is reportedly eyeing Sofapaka's Jacob Onyango, who has recently made headlines by scoring in the promotion/relegation playoff against Naivas FC.

The club’s recruitment strategy seems geared towards not only replacing the lost firepower but also enhancing the team's overall attacking capabilities as they face a demanding season ahead.

Kenya Police finished the FKF Premier League with 57 points and the striking force collectively scored 42 goals emphasizing the significant contribution of the departing striker to the team's success.
