Wonder strikes from Francis Kahata and Abud Omar were enough for Kenya Police to upstage Ulinzi Stars at Police Sacco Stadium.

Kenya Police showed class to outgun Ulinzi Stars 2-0 in an FKF Premier League match played at the Police Sacco Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The game had nothing much to write about in the first half, with neither team managing to create inroads in the other side's half.

Alvin Mangeni had the opportunity to break the deadlock, but he hit the ball just over the bar.

Francis Kahata broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when he rifled a shot outside the area from virtually out of nothing to give the hosts the lead.

The opening goal saw the game suddenly becoming end-to-end, with Ulinzi even having a good opportunity to equalise shortly afterwards through Ben Stanley Omondi.

This prompted head coach Antony 'Modo' Kimani to sub in Dennis Magige for Omondi and Elvis Nandwa for Ibrahim Shambi in an effort to restore parity.

Ulinzi huffed and puffed but could not find a way to equalise, and they were soon 2-0 down in the 70th minute when Abud Omar released a curling effort into the back of the net from a free-kick.

Nandwa had the opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 81st minute when he saw Patrick Matasi was off his line, but his execution eventually went wide, enough for the Police goalkeeper to recover and claim safely.

Police then started to enjoy themselves and should have made it 3-0 when Tyson Otieno found himself in acres of space on the edge of the area, but his resultant attempt went just wide of the post.

In the end, the game ended 2-0 in favour of Police, who have now reduced the deficit to eight points off leader Posta Rangers and ended their run of three games without a win.
