The Spain-based 17-year-old has revealed that the Kenya u18 side is set to take the tournament by storm.

Harambee Stars prospect Aldrine Kibet has sent a message to fans ahead of Kenya U18's CECAFA U18 tournament that kicks off on Saturday 25 November in Kisumu.

The tournament will take place for two weeks in Kakamega and Kisumu, and it is bound to attract a lot of fans in a not-too-dissimilar manner to the 2023 School Games that were held in the same region.

Speaking before the tournament, Kibet has revealed that the camaraderie among the squad Salim Babu named is already strong, which will serve as extra fuel for their desire to do well at the tournament.

“Training has been good and I believe there is a camaraderie created that is already strong,” he said.

“We have already started getting used to each other so our coordination is great and everything is great.

“The mood is positive because the first thing with this team is prayers first, God first, and also team building, teamwork.

“The mood is positive and everyone is aspiring for greatness.”

Kibet has noted that fans should expect them to live up to expectations and do well, pledging not to let them down.

“People should expect the best because given what is happening now, everyone is disciplined. The team has to listen to the coach and everyone is following what the coach is saying, and we are correcting mistakes.

“In this tournament, we expect to be the best. The fans should turn up in large numbers. We see how the team is. There are high expectations and we are going to win. We promise not to let them down.”

During the recently concluded School Games, Kibet achieved a remarkable feat – netting 25 times while also orchestrating 27 goals for his teammates.

His combined tally of 42 goals earned him the prestigious title of the competition's Most Valuable Player (MVP), a recognition that cements his place in the annals of Kenyan football history.

He is now based in Spain after he was taken up by Spain’s Nastic Soccer Academy (NSA) in Tarragona

The CECAFA U18 Boys Championship is set to kick off this weekend, Saturday, November 25. The tournament is set to be played in a group and knockout format.
