Five things to know about late Argentina manager Cesar Luis Menotti
Argentina's iconic World Cup-winning coach Cesar Luis Menotti has left a lasting legacy in football with his stylish influential approach.
Despite being winless in their previous five matches against Namungo, where the latter had dominated with three victories and two draws, Ihefu managed to turn the tables in this encounter.
In the first-round clash at Majaliwa Stadium last November Namungo had triumphed 2-0 courtesy of goals from Pius Buswita and Hamad Majimengi. However, Abuya and Rupia ensured that history did not repeat itself this time.
Reflecting on the victory, Ihefu head coach Mecky Mexime said, "We knew Namungo would be a tough opponent, given our past encounters. The players executed our game plan perfectly, and our Kenyan players, Duke and Elvis, showed their quality."
The victory propels Ihefu to 11th place in the league standings with 28 points after winning seven matches, drawing seven, and losing 11.
Namungo slips to 12th place with 27 points, having won six, drawn nine, and lost 10.
With five rounds of the Premier League remaining both teams will be eager to finish the season on a high note. For Ihefu the result provides a much-needed confidence boost as they strive to maintain their upward momentum.
