The midfielder scored his fifth goal in 12 matches this season.

Kenyan midfielder Wilson Waweru was on target for Cobh Ramblers as they pummelled Kerry FC 4-1 to halt their four-game winless streak in the Irish First Division.

Waweru is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder who is currently on a season-long loan from from fellow second-tier side Galway United having plied his trade in Ireland all his career.

Ramblers came into the clash on the back of a poor run of form, collecting only a single point in the previous four matches which saw them drop off from the automatic promotion place.

The Kenyan started the game like a house on fire as he needed just four minutes to open the scoring for Ramblers with the strike marking his fifth goal of the season.

Ramblers were in bullish mode as they doubled their lead a minute before the half-hour mark through Tiernan O'Brien and went into the break with a 2-0 advantage.

It took only seven minutes for Ramblers to add to their advantage as Charlie Lyons headed in a corner at the back post with the Kerry defenders caught napping.

Liam Kervick drilled the final nail in Kerry’s coffin with a goal in the 74th minute after Claudio Osorio threaded in a neat through pass.

Kerry grabbed their consolation goal with eight minutes left on the clock as Sean McGrath sent the ball to Ryan Kelliherwho made no mistake from close range.

Waweru will next be in action when Ramblers take on Finn Harps on Friday.
