Brian Ssenyondo's side had been winless in the previous three games as they lost to Maroons FC (1-0) and BUL FC (2-1) and picked a 2-2 stalemate with URA FC.

Following a recent dismal run of unpleasant Uganda Premier League results, Kitara Football Club are finally back to winning ways.

The Royals managed a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow newbies NEC FC at the Masindi Playgrounds on Saturday to mark their sixth campaign win.

Brian Ssenyondo's side had been winless in the previous three games as they lost to Maroons FC (1-0) and BUL FC (2-1) and picked a 2-2 stalemate with URA FC.

But, on home turf against NEC, Jude Ssemugabi struck on the volley to hand Kitara three points and take them to second on the log, with 19 points in nine matches.

The scoreline could have been more significant for the hosts, but NEC's goalkeeper Samson Kiirya was strong on the day, denying multiple efforts from Brian Aheebwa, Denis Omedi and Living Kabon.

Meanwhile, the result left NEC fifth on the 16-team table with 16 points in nine games.

While Kitara will visit champions Vipers SC on December 7 in their next match, a day earlier, NEC will play host to URA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

In the other Uganda Premier League action on the day, Maroons edged Mbarara City FC 1-0 at the Luzira Prison Grounds, courtesy of a Fred Amaku goal.

As Amaku made five goals this season, Maroons ascended to fourth on the table with 17 points in nine matches.

Maroons will be away to Busoga United at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, in their subsequent fixture.

Mbarara stayed put in 12th with eight points. They will host KCCA FC in their next match at the Kakyeka Stadium.
