Ugandan representatives at the East Africa Schools games Kitende, Kibuli and Amus College registered wins on Tuesday as they edged closer to semifinal qualification.

Allan Oyrwoth scored the only goal as Amus College beat St. Anthony’s from Kenya 1-0 in the East Africa Secondary Schools Boys football championship on Tuesday to edge closer to the semis.

The USSSA national most valuable player got at the end of Fred Ssemujju’s good work on the right wing to bury the winner in the 60th minute.

The win takes Amus top of Group A with seven points, two ahead of CGFK (Rwanda) and St. Henry’s Kitovu, who settled for a 1-all draw in the other match.

A win for Amus over the Rwandan side on Wednesday will guarantee a spot in the semis.

In Group B, Reagan Ssembusi, Ibrahim Toto and two by Kenneth Kimura over Dagoretti High ensured Kibuli registered their first win following their 1-1 stalemate against Kitende on Monday.

In the other match, Kitende once again proved their might by drubbing Rwandan side Ecose Musambira 6-0 to move to seven points

The defending champions, Kibuli, face the same Rwandans on Wednesday on a day that Kitende takes a day off.
